Knitting Sweetie

With the 2 oldest children away at grandma's, Indigo told me she had nothing to do. I had my knitting bag out so I had a go at teaching her to knit, I think she still maybe a little too young, although I was inpressed she didn't get that frustrated when the stitchs kept falling off the needles.

The subject daddy gave her was ropeswing.

I am very pleased with the amount of writing she did. :-)
She seemed to really enjoy writing this and only asked how to spell a few words. I the past she has complained about writing and would need me to be sat right next to her .

Chickens .

Our 3 chickens.
Sunday it was Mothers day :-) On Sunday I went to pick up 3 ex battery hens :-) I have been waiting 2 years for chickens. After many weekends work we had the chicken enclosure complete.
As they all look quite alike they have differant coloured leg rings on. I had named them Barry, Steve and Dave, however I was told by Trinity that they couldn't be named these names as they were girls. hmm So she has renamed Barry (green leg ring) as Enretty, Indigo has renamed Dave (Purple ring)as Rainbow and I have kept Steve (red ring) well ok so I am not told of to much she is re named Stevie :-)

Home Education lessons have included a bar chart of the number of eggs we have collected each day, Indigo has even colour coded it. However down side to the plan is today we got 2 eggs and we have no idea which chickens laid them.

I was thankful on the first day each hen laid a egg, meaning that both Trinity and Indigo could collect one.

Our very first egg.
I was tempted to get 4 chickens but settled with 3, however I am already thinking we need to increase the number by 2. With 6 people in the family when we decide to eat eggs we can really go through them and I had hoped I would be able to sell a few boxes now and again. I would also actually like to get meat birds as well, I would have to ask my mum to help me dispatch them.

Trinity now has a new favorite food.
Diggy eating egg and soldiers.
I can say that since Sunday the children have been eating more eggs than they ever did before. hehe.

The knitted blanket continues to grow !

For Christmas I knit and gave Trinity a blanket, it was only just finished in time. I decided that I needed to make Indigo one as well  . Hers of course had to be pinks and purples.
Still no where near finished but I just continue to do a little each night. :-) When it is finished I will back it with Purple/liliac fleece. Sure she will love it. Then the question will be should I do one for Korben ???

Today Trinity asked to make Butter.

I didn't want to say 'no' to her so I asked her how to make it, she said we just needed Milk. Hehe after much shaking later I told her that we needed cream to make butter.

It did keep them quite for some time though. :-)
Shake shake shake!
